The Mindful Worship Meditation Path
People sometimes wonder, "what is a guided meditation?" Others have experienced guided meditations, but not Christian guided meditations and they ask, "how are Mindful Worship guided meditations different from others I have done?"
To answer these questions I recently took on the task of creating a visual outline of our meditations. We call this outline our "flow"; however, when completed it looked more like a "path". Most of our guided meditations follow this meditation path.
Our meditation path is intentionally structured to help the listener:
- Relax the body
- Quiet the mind (reduce distractions)
- Connect with God in prayer
- Focus on God's word
- Think deeply (meditate) about the text
- Apply the scripture personally
Members of the Mindful Worship community are a wonderful and unique group of people. Some of them listen to the audio, while others prefer to print the scripts and read through them in their own voice. Some people listen in bed, in their den, or at work (before anyone else arrives), but I know of one member who likes to listen in the morning while walking his dog.
The conclusion is the meditation path is flexible enough to allow for people to be who God made them to be. It is a great honor to be a part of helping people all over the world grow closer to God through meditating on His word.
