Rewind- 2014 Year In Review
Wow! I'll even say it backward, wow! What an incredible year it has been here at Mindful Worship!
The end of a very long dry spell
It had been 3-1/2 years since I had publisher a new meditation. That last one was in January 2011 and I only published two the year before that. So, it had really been about five years since I was very active in this ministry.
Ricky Meets Steve
In May, I met Steve Dalton at a local computer programming user group meeting. He was just getting started learning about programming and was considering it as a future career. We met for coffee a couple weeks later and immediately hit it off. We discovered that we had several things in common, not the least of which was: Steve was a former pastor and I had been a long-time Bible teacher and deacon; we were both about the same age and we had both been diagnosed with ADHD in recent years; we both had an interest in Christian meditation. I shared a little about Mindful Worship with him and that I had been wanting to get things going again for a long time, but it just never seemed to work out. I asked him to check out the site and ministry and to let me know what he thought about it.
Ricky Marries Denice Bright
A week after that meeting, I married an amazing woman who I had met about a year and a half earlier a couple months after moving to Wilmington, NC. We had a wonderful sunrise wedding on Folly Beach, near Charleston, SC. We are both very much 'beach people'. Denice is an incredible encouragement and support in renewing my efforts with Mindful Worship and growing all the various products and services of my business.
Steve Dalton Becomes Product Manager
When Denice and I returned from our honeymoon, I met with Steve again. He really liked what I had done with Mindful Worship. I shared with him a lot of the details about finances, processes, and goals and asked him if he would be interested in becoming the Mindful Worship Product Manager and helping me get things going and growing again. He accepted the offer and God has accomplished a lot through us in only six months.
Our Meditations In Online Stores
Steve worked very hard to get our meditations in the
and Google Play Music store. They also play on several online radio stations such as and iHeartradio.
Redesigned Mobile Friendly Website
This was one of our biggest projects. We recognized that in order to grow, we had to have a better platform. We isolated ourselves for a whole weekend to kick off the project and finished it about six weeks later.
FREE+ Membership Program
Relationships are very important to us. We can serve you better when we have a closer relationship with you. I've gotten to know many of the Premium Members over the years and count them as some of my best friends even though we've never met in person. These free memberships give us an opportunity to serve people in ways that we can't when they are anonymous visitors to the site. FREE+ Members get access to a larger library of meditations than non-members, access to the discussion areas of the site, and access to all new meditations for the first 24 hours after they are posted to www.mindfulworship.com.
Mindful Worship Gift Certificates
Many of you wanted to bless a friend with a Mindful Worship Premium Membership, but there wasn't a good way to do it. The new gift memberships are easy for you to purchase and easy for the recipient to redeem.
Steve's Daughter Joins the Team
Recently Steve's 13 year old daughter Ashley has joined the Mindful Worship team. She maintains Instagram "fan" pages for "Top Gear UK" and "J. R. R. Tolkien" with over 1000 followers. We hope she can help us grow in this area. It is a thrill for Steve to be able to work with his daughter.
New Social Media
Mindful Worship expanded its social media presence in 2014 by adding Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube to Facebook and Twitter which we had previously. "Share" buttons were added to the website to make it easier for you to share your favorite Mindful Worship content with friends.
10 New Meditations
We wrote and recorded the last two meditations in The Fruit of the Spirit series that I started back in 2009. We published two meditations in a series to coordinate with the book My One Word by Steve's pastor, Mike Ashcraft. We published the first in a series that I've wanted to do for several years on classic hymns. Two of the meditations address common challenges--one dealing with anxiety and another with grief over the loss of a loved one. We released the first in a series on our identity in Christ, More Than A Conqueror. A couple others were born out of what God was doing in our own personal Bible study times.
