For They Will Be Comforted

The Blessing of God's Comfort During Times Of Grief

Grief, anguish, sadness, brokenhearted, regret, mourning, cry, sorrow, and pain are synonyms for something we all experience at times in our life.

We experience it at:

  • The death of a loved one
  • The loss of a job
  • Divorce
  • Loss of a friendship

As a pastor I have been with many people experiencing unimaginable loss.  Not once did I look at them and say, "this is such a blessing". However Jesus said that to all of us
in Matthew 5:4 when He said, "Blessed are those who mourn".

In this meditation we will contemplate the 'blessing' of grief which is introduced in Matthew 5:4. We will meditate on the entire verse and other scripture to help us better understand
times of pain and the comfort that comes from a relationship with Jesus.

Scriptures: Matthew 5:4, Isaiah 53:3, John 11:35, Hebrews 4:14-16, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

This has to be one of if not the best source comfort I have received in a very long time. I must admit yesterday was an extremely difficult day. I just missed my dearest friend, Barbi. She passed away two years ago and I wanted to talk with her about the many “happenings” that are wrong in life. She was my pal. She got me, but more than that she knew just how to sit and listen. She never freaked when I’d share something that would send most people running. I guess I just miss her being.

In any case… Thank you, Mindful Worship Team for loving people the way Jesus does. I am always comforted by just Being Still And Hearing the Spoken Word.

    Warmly,
    Angie

interesting process from knowing the text on the page to really knowing it in the centre of one’s pain of loss; and the journey of embracing the triune Comforter
