Amazing Grace

In 1779 "Olney Hymns" was published in England. "Amazing Grace", a hymn by former slave ship captain, John Newton was among its 348 songs. It has become one of the most recorded, most played, and most beloved songs in history. It is estimated that "Amazing Grace" is performed over 10 million times each year around the world. "Amazing Grace" was my grandfather's favorite hymn and I still remember my Dad singing it as he woke us up to go to church on Sunday mornings when I was a child.

Unfortunately, "Amazing Grace" has been so popular, and played and sang so often that we don't even pay attention to the powerful message in its lyrics. It is a song of forgiveness, hope, and redemption. In this meditation we will help you focus on the words you know so well and allow God to speak through this great hymn.
