Mindful Worship Meditation #27 – The Fruit of the Spirit is Peace

August 1st, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

Peaceful LakeThis meditation is the fourth of a ten part series on The Fruit of the Spirit. In today’s turbulent world, so many people are seeking peace. Unfortunately, many are seeking peace through changes to their circumstances, instead of seeking the peace of Christ in the midst of, and in spite of, their circumstances. In this guided Christian meditation, you’ll contemplate some of the New Testament passages that explain what peace is, how Jesus has given us His peace, and how we can become the blessed peacemakers God has called us to be. Peace is not something we produce on our own, but rather, the fruit of the Spirit is Peace.

We began this series with a contemplative overview of The Fruit of the Spirit, and the next two episodes focused on the fruits of Love and Joy. If you would like to do this particular series of biblical meditations in order, you’ll want to begin with these three meditations. Speaking of peace, you may also enjoy Mindful Worship Meditation #13 – Jehovah-Shalom, The Lord Is Peace. I’ve had an incredible experience with God in my life as He has used the time I’ve spent meditating on these passages and asking the Holy Spirit to produce better quality fruit in my life. I’d love to hear about your own experiences in the comments. (Photo by Alberto Alerigi. Original on flickr. Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic License)

Mindful Worship Meditation #26 – The Fruit of the Spirit is Joy

April 19th, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

Listening to Meditation on an iPod on the Beach Experiencing JoyThis meditation is the third of a ten part series on The Fruit of the Spirit. So often, when we hear the word joy, we think about happiness. However, joy in a Christian’s life is much more than mere happiness. In this guided Christian meditation, you’ll contemplate some of the New Testament passages that explain what joy is, the things the Holy Spirit uses to produce joy, and how we can apply that joy in our walk with Christ. Joy is not something we produce on our own, but rather, the fruit of the Spirit is Joy.

We began this series with a contemplative overview of The Fruit of the Spirit, and then contemplated how The Fruit of the Spirit is Love. If you would like to do this particular series of biblical meditations in order, you’ll want to begin with these two meditations. I’ve had an incredible experience with God in my life as He has used the time I’ve spent meditating on these passages and asking the Holy Spirit to produce better quality fruit in my life. Mindful Worship Meditation #25 – The Fruit of the Spirit is Love

April 12th, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

Agape - Heart in Bible PagesThis meditation is the second of a ten part series on The Fruit of the Spirit. In Paul’s list of the fruits in Galatians, he lists love first. Love is the primary fruit and in fact, all the other fruits are not possible without love. In Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, he listed sixteen qualities of Christian love. In this meditation, you will contemplate these sixteen qualities from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: what they are, how God expresses them perfectly, and how you express them in your own life. The fruit of the Spirit is Love.

Many listeners have asked about a meditation on the expressions of love found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. This seemed like a perfect place to dig into those attributes. I didn’t set out to write a guided meditation that was nearly an hour long, but this passage is so rich, it seemed the only way to get everything in. I hope you grow in your own expression of love as you meditate with me on those passages–I know I certainly have.

Mindful Worship Meditation #24 – The Fruit of the Spirit, is the first part of this christian meditation series; it provides an overview of the nine fruits of the spirit. If you would like to do this particular series of biblical meditations in order, that is the place to begin. (Photo by Marcelino Rapayla Jr. Original on flickr. Mindful Worship Meditation #23 – Then I Will Teach

March 29th, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

Peace Be With YouThis meditation is the last of a three part series on Psalm 51. In Mindful Worship Meditation #21 – Have Mercy on Me, O God, we examined the first 6 verses as David laments over his sin of committing adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah, and asks God to forgive him. In Mindful Worship Meditation #22 – Create in Me a Pure Heart, we contemplated verses 7 through 12 where David asks God to clean him, renew him, and restore him. In this mediation we see David’s response to God’s grace. He begins by saying, Then I Will Teach.

When I originally began to write the first meditation in this series, I was only going to do a few particular verses from this Psalm. As I meditated on it in my own life though, I realized that every line holds life-changing truth that needs to be seriously contemplated. A single meditation would probably be more than an hour long though, so I decided to present it in a three-part series. This is the last of those three parts. I am now planning to do more series type meditations that will build and elaborate on each other and allow us to go deeper into the study and personal application of God’s Word. Let me know what you think in the comments. (Photo by Anna Gay. Original on flickr. Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic License)

Mindful Worship Meditation #22 – Create in Me a Pure Heart

White Bleeding Heart FlowersThis meditation is the second of a three part series on Psalm 51. In Mindful Worship Meditation #21 – Have Mercy on Me, O God, we examined the first 6 verses as David laments over his sin of committing adultery with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah, and asks God to forgive him. In this meditation, you will contemplate verses 7 through 12 where David asks God to clean him, renew him, and restore him. In Mindful Worship Meditation #15 you asked God to Guard Your Heart; in this meditation you ask God to Create in Me a Pure Heart.

Mindful Worship Meditation #21 – Have Mercy On Me O God

March 15th, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

Mercy: Something to be thankful forPsalm 51 is David’s prayer of repentance after he sinned by committing adultery with Bathsheba and having her husband Uriah killed. We all have sin in our lives because we have a sin nature. Although we don’t like to often think about our sin, it is the reason Jesus came and died for us. In this meditation you will identify a specific sin from your own life and then apply David’s words to that sin in your life to help you grow more into God’s image. Have Mercy on Me, O God.

When I originally began to write this meditation, I was only going to do a few particular verses from this Psalm. As I meditated on it in my own life though, I realized that every line holds life-changing truth that Christians need to seriously contemplate and apply to their lives. A single meditation would probably be more than an hour long though, so I decided to present it in a three-part series. This is the first of those three parts. Mindful Worship Meditation #20 – Sleep In Peace

March 8th, 2009 - Categories: Premium Guided Meditations

Man Sleeping PeacefullyMany people have told me that they really enjoy doing the New Every Morning when they first wake up. In fact, many people wake up with it by having it automatically begin to play at a certain time. The idea behind New Every Morning was to help prepare myself for the upcoming day. This week’s guided meditation is meant to help you close out your day just as you retire for the evening and to help you Sleep in Peace.

Although it’s not necessary to do this meditation after you lay down in bed, it is written with the assumption that you will do it very close to bed time. You’ll probably enjoy doing it while you are lying down and then just drifting off to peaceful sleep at the end. If you’re listening using headphones or earbuds with wires, be sure to take them off before you actually to sleep. As always, let me know what you think about this meditation in the comments. Mindful Worship Meditation #18 – Support from Zion

February 22nd, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

It has been said that in our Christian walk we are all either in a battle, have just finished a battle, or are about to enter a battle. Psalm 20 was written as a song to be sung as an encouragement to David, the other soldiers, and the Israelite people before, during, and after battles. It is a wonderful song that asks God for help, acknowledges Him as our helper, and praises him for helping us.

You may choose to apply this psalm as a prayer for yourself concerning a spiritual battle you are involved in, to prepare you for an upcoming spiritual battle, or to praise God for victory in a past spiritual battle. You may also choose to use it as a guide to pray for someone else who is in any of those situations right now. Regardless of how you apply this Psalm, may He grant you support from Zion.

Mindful Worship Meditation #17 – When You Are Tempted

February 15th, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

This is the shortest meditation I’ve recorded so far. I was thinking about how all of us are tempted to do the wrong things at times, but how often do we stop to meditate on God’s word when we are in that situation, and especially what He has said about temptation. I realize that you won’t always be able to listen to this when you are tempted, but by meditating on, and even memorizing, the scriptures in this meditation, you will be more prepared for those times when you are tempted.
Although this meditation is written to help in general times of temptation, I’m considering producing more short meditations along the lines of this one that help us as believers when we encounter specific temptations. There is no way to create meditations that relate to every possible temptation, but I may be able to write some that addresses the most common. Leave me a note in the comments if you would like to see more of these short meditations that address particular areas of temptation, and what temptations you most feel need to be addressed in this manner.

Mindful Worship Meditation #16 – I Am the True Vine

February 8th, 2009 - Categories: Guided Meditations, Premium Guided Meditations

Grapevine in VinyardJesus included such great imagery in so much of his teaching. While the people he taught understood very well the objects and metaphors he used, today we may have to use our imagination when studying his words. An excellent example of this is when he taught his disciples,. I am the True Vine.

In this Christian guided meditation, I’ll help you to meditate on this passage and apply it as the disciples may have. If you are not familiar with vineyards and grapevines, you may find that the picture here will help you better understand Christ’s metaphor. You can click on the image to see a bigger and more detailed picture of the grapevine. You may want to imagine this as you follow along with this meditation. (Photo taken by Amy C.
