Articles and Blog Posts about Christian Meditation – Volume 2

Woman Reading Meditaton Articles on Her MacBook ProIt has been quite some time since I’ve connected you to some of the best articles, editorials, and blog posts I’ve read about Christian meditation and meditating on God’s Word. When I run across really good articles, I always make a note of the location–I just haven’t been sharing them with my readers. However, I’m taking a few minutes now to share some. I expect to share more in a few weeks. Just like in Volume 1, these are presented in no particular order. I hope you enjoy them!

  • I just wrote an article for Praise-and-Worship.com entitled, Worship with Meditation. This article provides a brief history of meditation in the Bible, a summary of my own techniques for meditating on the scriptures, and an explanation of how meditating on the scriptures can be an act of worship.
  • Phil Pringle is the pastor of Christian City Church Oxford Falls. Phil prints verses on paper and then meditates on them. As he does so, he writes his thoughts and comments on the paper using different colors and styles, then he posts those thoughts and comments and a picture of his finished work of meditation on his blog. Try this yourself! I’ve been doing it some and it has been a wonderful experience for me.
  • Week 2 of the “What Works” series by Phil Fox Rose for Busted Halo is entitled, What Works: Meditation.
  • When I got my first Palm PDA about 9 years ago, the first Bible software I used on it was by Olive Tree Bible Software. They have a wonderful article on their web site entitled, Meditating on God’s Word. You don’t have to use one of their Bible programs to learn a great deal from this article though.
  • Although it’s a very short post, T.J. Francis has a post entitled Stop and Think… at his The 12th of Isaiah blog, that I think will make you stop and think.

I have a couple dozen more articles that I can highly recommend, but I’ll save those for another day. If you are aware of some articles, essays, or blog posts you would like me to consider for future volumes, feel free to contact me with a link to them. (Photo by Quinn Dombrowski. Original on flickr. Articles and Blog Posts about Christian Meditation – Volume 1

March 13th, 2009 - Categories: News

Girl Reading Meditaton Articles on Her ComputerOne of the things I love the most about the Internet is how so many people freely share much of their knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. There is a lot of really good information online about Christian meditation and meditating on the Bible. Much of this is in online articles and blog posts. I seek out and read as much information as I can on the topic. Some of what I read is not very good, some of it is really ood, and some of it is great. Here are links to some of the best articles and blog posts on Christian mediation and meditating on God’s word that I’ve read in recent weeks. These are presented in no particular order. I hope you enjoy them!

As I find new articles and essays on Christian meditation and meditating on the scriptures, I’ll be periodically posting links to the ones that like the best and that I believe will give you the most value for your time spent reading and studying them. That’s why I called this, “Volume 1.” If you are aware of some articles, essays, or blog posts you would like me to consider for future volumes, feel free to contact me with a link to them. The Mindful Worship Web Site Has Been Redesigned!

March 9th, 2009 - Categories: News

March 2009 Mindful Worship Redesign ScreenshotI’ve been wanting to redesign Mindful Worship for quite some time. When I first started the site, I wasn’t expecting it to grow like it has. Now that it is growing, I wanted to make all the content here more accssible. I also wanted to incorporate a new logo that I’ve been working on. I really like minimalistic and clean web sites and this is reflected in this design. I realize that everyone isn’t like me though and that I can’t please everyone with any site design.

One of the things I think everyone will like are the links to all the guided meditations on the left-hand side.

So, what do you think? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Do you have ideas for improvement? What would you like to see in the site design? What kind of content would you like to see here at Mindful Worship that I’m not already producing? Let me know by posting a comment. This is your chance to let your voice be heard!

Welcome to Mindful Worship!

September 4th, 2007 - Categories: News

I have been praying for several months about starting a web site devoted to Christian meditation, and the Christian guided meditations that I have been writing and recording. Over those months, the Lord has given me several ideas for short articles on Christian meditation, and as I meditate on His word myself, I've been writing some directions that I believe will help others establish this discipline in their own relationship with Christ.

For more information about why I started this site, be sure to check out the About this Site page.

I look forward to interacting with each one of my readers and listeners, and pray that God will use the information presented here in a mighty way in your life. Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments!
