Ryan - There are many great translations of God's word available. You might want to visit a Christian book store, such as Lifeway (http://www.lifeway.com/) or Family Christian Stores (http://www.familychristian.com/). Tell the people there that you are a new believer looking to purchase your first Bible. They should be able to help you choose a translation that fits your relationship with God.

Your pastor may also provide some valuable input for you. Many people find it helpful to select the translation that is used my most others in their church. If you haven't yet joined a local fellowship of believers, you will find this to be a very valuable part of your walk with Christ.

One of the most important things is that you read your Bible regularly, prayerfully consider what God reveals to you through His word, and then apply what you learn.

All the meditations I produce currently include scriptures from the New International Version (NIV).
